Privacy Policy
LightOn Plus Lab ("we") treats your personal data with care and complies with the Korean Personal Information Protection Act and other applicable law. This policy applies to every service we operate.
Data We Collect
We collect the following to provide our services.
- Google account information — email address and name (when you sign in)
- Service usage data — text, audio files and images you provide
- Payment information — handled by our payment gateway; we never store card numbers or similar sensitive details ourselves
How We Use It
- Providing and operating the services
- Authentication and account management
- AI-based content generation and processing
- Payment processing and billing history
- Improving the services and responding to faults
Retention & Deletion
- Deleting your account deletes all of your data immediately.
- Uploaded files are deleted as soon as they have been processed.
- Payment records are kept for five years as required by law, then destroyed.
Third Parties
We do not sell or hand your personal data to third parties. We do use the following services to operate ours.
- Google Cloud Platform — server hosting and AI processing
- Payment gateway — secure payment processing
- Soniox, Inc. (USA) — speech-to-text and speaker separation. Audio is sent when you use recording in LightOn AI Note.
- OpenAI, L.L.C. (USA) — AI summaries, tutor, cards, quizzes and translation. Note text is sent only when you run one of those features yourself.
Soniox and OpenAI publish their own privacy policy · privacy policy, and both state that content submitted through their APIs is not used to train their models. All transfers are encrypted in transit with TLS.
Only the minimum necessary data is shared, and only to provide the service.
Your Rights
- You may delete your account and request deletion of your data at any time.
- Service integrations (calendar and the like) can be disconnected in settings.

European Economic Area, United Kingdom & Switzerland (GDPR)
Our apps are currently not distributed in the EEA, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland. Google Play does not offer them for download in those countries, so we do not knowingly provide the service to users there. What follows describes the safeguards that will apply once distribution is extended to those regions, where LightOn Plus Lab would be the controller.
Legal basis for processing (Art. 6)
- Sending audio for transcription, sending note text for AI features, and storing data on your device — Art. 6(1)(b), performance of the contract
- On-device review reminders — Art. 6(1)(a), your consent, given via the OS notification permission and withdrawable at any time
We do not process special-category data under Art. 9, we do not use your data for advertising or profiling, and we carry out no automated decision-making producing legal or similarly significant effects under Art. 22.
International transfers
Soniox and OpenAI process data in the United States. There is no adequacy decision covering these processors, so transfers are made under the Standard Contractual Clauses (together with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum where the UK GDPR applies) as incorporated into each processor's data processing agreement. Copies are available on request at support@lightonpluslab.com. If you do not use the recording or AI features, no personal data leaves your device and no international transfer occurs.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your data, and to object to processing (Arts. 15–21). App data lives on your device and we hold no account, so you can exercise most of these rights directly and immediately in the app — view and edit any note, delete a note (which also deletes its audio), or use the backup export in settings to obtain a portable copy of everything. Deleting the app erases everything we could otherwise reach. Where you gave consent you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. For anything else, write to support@lightonpluslab.com; we respond within one month as required by Art. 12(3).
Lodging a complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (Art. 77). The European Data Protection Board publishes a list of EEA authorities; in the UK, contact the ICO.
